Things to Do in Bathurst: Daly Point Nature Reserve

The Daly Point Nature Reserve just northeast of Bathurst harbor features a system of footpaths and boardwalk open year round, on some 100 acres of pristine salt and fresh water marsh, abandoned fields, and Acadian forest.

Trail maps and interpretive and directional signage allow visitors to access a self-guided tour at Daly Point, or book an experience with us by calling the Visitor Reception Center.

The field trail leads visitors through abandoned fields, bordered by trees and shrubs which gradually give way to the Acadian Forest.

A boardwalk system closely follows the edge of the salt marsh, home of the endangered Maritime Ringlet butterfly.

The Point is alive with migratory birds, attracting bird-watchers from across the region, and beyond. The Warbler trail features a boardwalk winding through the nesting grounds of colorful Wood warblers. Over 20 different species have been observed here!

The Gulch trail highlights a small stream fed by a natural spring year round, traversed by wooden bridges and board walk.

The Coastal Path features lookout platforms for a panoramic view of Bathurst Harbour, and a staircase leads down to a pebble beach, which can be accessed at low tide.

The Visitor Reception Center provides year-round educational and recreational programming. In the winter, visitors can “borrow” snowshoes, and purchase sunflower seeds to feed the friendliest chickadees in the province!

Stop in at the Visitor Reception Center for a warm reception! Bring your camera and picnic basket, and plan on spending the day with us!
