Canada Day: Canada Day, also known as "Dominion Day", takes place on July 1st of each year. In 1867, this date was chosen to be the "effective date of the Confederation Act" by Queen Victoria. Today, Canadians and visitors from around the world celebrate Canadian diversity with music, joy and festivities. Don't be surprised to see people dressed in red and white and to hear the sound of fireworks in the evening.
